Luis Saldaña


Luis Saldaña is an advisor at StarBridge Advisors, LLC. He has deep experience as a seasoned Chief Medical Informatics Officer and clinical experience as a practicing Emergency Physician for 30 years. He has been recognized as a leader and influencer among his peers across the country. He is recognized as a passionate expert in Clinical Decision Support and Informatics and for driving quality care and clinician satisfaction with the Electronic Health Record and supporting technologies.

Dr. Saldaña practiced as an Emergency Physician for 30 years and is recognized as a Fellow in the American College of Emergency Physicians. He has been active in Clinical Informatics for the last 13 years, most recently serving as the Chief Medical Informatics Officer for Texas Health Resources, a large, diverse healthcare system in the Dallas-Ft. Worth, Texas, market. He was instrumental in the deployment and optimization of their Electronic Health Record, CareConnect (Epic), which helped THR earn HIMSS Stage 7 certification as well as being recognized with the HIMSS Davies Award of Excellence in 2013 for leveraging healthcare technology to improve patient outcomes and quality. He was involved in the strategic execution, design, and integration of clinical decision support tools and enhancing the usability of the Electronic Health Record.

Dr. Saldaña was a co-author of HIMSS 2013 book of the year, “Improving Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support: An Implementer’s Guide,” widely recognized as a referential resource for CDS best practices. He also was an Associate Editor of the HIMSS book, Improving Medication Use and Outcomes with Clinical Decision Support. He has served on the HIMSS Physician Committee and was actively involved in the Scottsdale Institute’s CMIO Forum. He was named by Becker’s Healthcare as one of “32 CMIOs to Know” in 2016 and 2017 and was also recognized as one of 25 CMIOs to know by Health Data Management.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Saldaña is passionate about leveraging technologies in healthcare to enhance consumer access, interoperability and to develop workflows that support the efficient delivery of quality outcomes for the patient and for the healthcare system.
