John O. Norenberg


John Norenberg is an Advisor at StarBridge Advisors, LLC. He is a 35-year Information Technology veteran. Beginning his career with IBM as a printer design and development with IBM, he has held staff, management and executive positions in the manufacturing, finance, insurance, enterprise software, and health care industries. During that time, he has been an advocate for assuring that technology expenditures drive business (operational and/or) financial outcomes, and the power of integrating business processes to increase value.

In 2004, he joined Advocate Healthcare. In the ensuing years, he implemented Advocate’s enterprise hospital, medical group, and affiliated physician Electronic Medical Records and revenue cycle systems. In addition to these systems, he also led the teams that created Advocate’s internal information exchange, physician and patient portals, and the systems to support the digital strategy and consumer outreach.

He also held the roles of Vice President over IT for all non-hospital businesses (2000 provider medical group, 6000 provider Accountable Care Organization, Home Health and Hospice, etc), and finally expanding that role to be Vice President over all clinical systems and revenue cycle systems. During this time, he held Board seats with the Midwest Health Institute and the Metro Chicago Health Information Exchange, as chair.

John has strong expertise and a national reputation in health IT leadership, population health systems development, very large IT system project and program management, enterprise systems architecture, and high-performance team building of both large and small teams. He is frequently a guest speaker on each of these topics.

John’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Minnesota, and a master’s degree in Management, with focus on Strategy and Finance, from the JL Kellogg School of Business at Northwestern University
