Dave Gravender


Dave Gravender is an Advisor at StarBridge Advisors, LLC. Dave is a seasoned executive working in health information technology for over 30 years. He is an expert at improving organizational performance, patient safety, clinical adoption, establishing data governance for business intelligence and developing population health technology strategies.

Dave served as the Chief Information Officer for Alameda Health System (AHS) in Oakland, CA where he led the organization’s development of a strategic plan to consolidate the disparate information technology needs of the newly formed health system. Two small community hospitals joined the public safety net system which expanded access to care for the underserved. While initially a financial hardship, Dave was an instrumental member of the executive team that successfully turned the organization to profitability.

Prior to serving at AHS, Dave was Vice President and Chief Information Officer at Kaweah Delta Health Care District in Visalia, CA from 1998 to 2013. He successfully led Kaweah Delta through an EHR selection and implementation process. Dave and Kaweah Delta were internationally recognized for the use of the iPad as an emerging technology in healthcare receiving a ComputerWorld Honors Laureate Award and being a Finalist in the 21st Century Achievement Award. Prior to that, he worked for Community Health Network in Indianapolis, IN, serving in various roles, including Director of Applications and Technical Support, and Director of Information Systems for the Managed Care subsidiary. He also served as the Director of Information Services Administration for the newly formed St. Vincent Community Health Network where he oversaw 215 employees and was the information architect for the consolidation of Information Technology.

Dave is a member of CHIME and HIMSS. He presents locally and nationally regarding healthcare information technologies. Dave earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Indianapolis and a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern Michigan University majoring in Operations Research and Information Systems.
